Merkt Ihr was? Genau, Eventicus ist dabei nach und nach alle Texte ins Deutsche zu übertragen. Eventicus ist eine deutsche Entwicklung und daher liegt es nahe, dass wir euch diese Seiten auch auf Deutsch zur Verfügung stellen. Sicher, noch gibt es vereinzelnt einige englische Texte, aber auch diese Stellen werden wir in den nächsten Tagen noch übersetzen. Natürlich können alle Seiten auch weiterhin noch in Englisch betrachtet werden! Dazu muß als Standardsprache im Browser etwas anderes als Deutsch eingestellt sein. Wir erkennen dass dann automatisch und stellen alles mit englischen Texten dar. Was gibt es sonst noch Neues? Auch an einigen anderen Stellen hat sich etwas getan. So kann jeder Nutzer jetzt ein eigenes Avatar Bild für sein Profil hochladen, welches dann auch automatisch neben jedem Eventeintrag dargestellt wird. Zudem haben wir die URL Struktur etwas angepasst. So besteht die URL eines Events nun zum einen aus dem Namen der Stadt und zum anderen aus dem Titel des Events. Das sieht dann z.B. so... mehr...

Downtime and Updates

As some of you might have noticed that we had some downtime over the last 24 hours. This was due to some upgrades on our server. We are changing our deployment strategy and had to modify some scripts and software on the server. We are now using Capistrano to deploy new versions of the eventicus application. I think this will help us to deploy new features more quickly. And if there are problems with an update we can always go back to a previous revision. But there are some more news to come. We are preparing for a mature update with new features such as timezone support, internationalization and some cool event import functionalities. But more about that later. Events suchen und als HTML, RSS oder iCal ausgeben

Ich habe in den letzten Tagen einige neue Features in eventicus eingebaut. Unter anderem habe ich die Suche verbessert und ausgebaut. Ihr könnt nun nach Veranstaltungen suchen und euch das Suchergebnis wahlweise als HTML Seite sowie als RSS oder iCal Feeds ausgeben lassen. Wenn ihr zum Beispiel alle Veranstaltungen sehen wollt, die den Suchbegriff ‘Hamburg’ enthalten, könnt ihr entweder das Suchfeld oben verwenden, oder direkt folgende URL eingeben: http://eventicus.de/events/search/hamburg Wollt ihr das Ergebnis lieber als RSS erhalten, ändert ihr die URL einfach folgendermaßen ab: http://eventicus.de/rss/search/hamburg Und wollt ihr lieber alles im iCal Format haben, dann versucht einfach folgende URL: http://eventicus.de/ical/search/hamburg Damit sollte es nun auch leicht möglich sein, die so gefundenen Veranstaltungen leicht in eure eigene Webseite einbinden zu können. Now with iCalendar support

You want to see all eventicus events in your own Google Calendar or maybe in Mozilla Sunbird? No Problem anymore because we added a little icon right beside the title of each event list page. The icon says ‘ICAL’ and points you directly to an calendar readable format which can be imported into every calendar application with iCalendar support. You only want all the events from Hanover, Germany? As you might have noticed, you are able to comment on our blog now. We think this is a good way for our users to provide direct feedback on new features of Eventicus and on our blog posts. We are also working on internationalization and hope that we can release a German version of Eventicus within the next two months. And we have some really interesting ideas for more and better community functions. So stay tuned for the things to come. mehr...

We have event photos now

As you might have noticed, everyone can add their own photos to every single event in Eventicus now. All you need is an account at flickr.com and upload your event photos there. After that you should add a unique Eventicus event ID as a tag to your photos at flickr. You can find that ID for every event if you click on “Add your own photos!”. The ID looks like ‘eventicus:event=12345’. After adding the tag your photo should appear automatically on the event page. As an example you can tak a look at this event: 2. Welcome to our new blog

As you can see, we have a new blog now. A very simple one, but I hope it will get better over time. I see this blog as a possibility to communicate with you – the users of Eventicus. For now there is no comment functionality for blog posts, but i will add that within the next weeks. First I will tell you some facts about me and Eventicus. My name is Mathias Karstädt (aka. webmatze) and I’m a 30 years old male from Hanover, Germany. I am the developer of this social event community. Some of you will remember the first version of Eventicus. I coded it with PHP5 over a year ago. I had the idea for a website where everybody all over the world could add his or her events for free. I was not the only one with this idea. But I saw it as a private hobby project and did not made much advertising for it. But soon Eventicus was recognized by some people who then added links to there Web 2.0 lists.
